Front page image research

During my research for existing music magazines I closely looked at the type of photographs used of music artists and how the models are stylised in order to attract the intended audience. I gathered lots of images online of front pages of music magazines and analysed the main images.

The image below shows one main image I highlighted as one that is very effective and I will consider using a similar image and model for my own front page. The photo is effective as it uses a close up making the artist look powerful and portrays an ego which is expected of a rock and roll singer. I realised for my front page to be be effective I must use a powerful image aswell

I also found in my research that images of artists performing can be used aswell. This can also be effective as this creates an attractive front page drawing readers in to reading inside the magazine but also to purchasing the magazine in the future. The imahe below shows a music artist performing but still carries a typical convention in terms of its layout in the centre of the page.
