The scene dissolves back to her eyes to highlight her blinking. And to almost indicate her coming out of a deep sort of sleep.

This angle was to centre her character but to also let her walk past the camera.

This scene is another significant and symbolic one, as she goes to wash her hands, I used this as a sort of metaphor of 'washing the "blood" off her hands'.

The close up to convey her anguish/shock.

I used another flashback here as she looks at her own hands to show how she will never be rid of the grief and that it haunts her.

This shot comes at the end as to shock the audience as she is suddenly attacked. I continued the close up to get a key expression and to highlight the sudden grasp from behind.

The final video shot of the film is of the character presumably attacked opening her eyes and the film leaves it up to the audience what happens next, as all great thrillers should do...

And finally, I present on a black background the title 'The Witness' which could be interpreted to have many meanings. The Witness of the supposed attack? The Witness of the new attack? The Witness of the character who's eyes open at the end?
The opening is very ambiguous and is there to leave the audience asking questions and to entice them to watch the rest of the film.
