We have decided to work on the print project, for a teenage music magazine. I have already started researching different types of music magazines. We have a rough idea on what our images will be, and also the layout of our front cover. We now need to research and come and gain an idea of the layout for the contents page, such as the text and font. We also have a rough idea of what will be included in our double page spread.
This image is our first front page anaylsis. We will analyse the techniques used on this front cover, to give us ideas for techniques that we can use to build our front cover.
The use of the colour black in the image, suggests a mysterious and dark charecters who’s presence is very powerful and not entirely clear. The white text contrats with the colour black which makes the band name ‘’Magentic Man’’ stand out to the reader, to make them want to buy the magazine. The retro black glasses used in the image adds to the mysterious effect as they have no eye contact with the reader. The powerful stance, shows the singerin the centre of the picture showing that he is the most important in the band. Also because the reader will recognise the singer more than the rest of the band. The two other band members are stood behind the singer not directly at the camera which further gives a mysterious effect.
The magazine uses the title‘’NME’’ in a dark black font to further add to the mysterious effect created by the charecters in the image. This is a creative technique used by the magazine as the title ‘’NME’’ is normally used in a red font. The black title also contrasts sharply with the light grey fading to a white background to make the title stand out and seem more important.
This heading is used to give the reader an insight to what is inside the magazine to make them want to buy it. ‘’10 of 10 sprecial edition covers’’ is used in bold to emphisise to reader that it is a special edition so it needs to be bought. The use of ‘’ten of ten’’ is also a catchy phrase to use.
