The project that i am intending to do is design, direct and edit the opening to a film of any genre. I am working solo and have to make the opening of the film longer than 2 minutes and shorter than 5 minutes.
I havent yet decided what genre and style my clip will be but im thinking about doing an action whilst encorporating a sence of enigma. I decided to do a genre like this because looking at previous as media coursework, many projects were typical thrillers or horrors and i wanted to be different.
The action aspect of my project will be in a similar style of that after 35 seconds of the following youtube video. I think filming a running scene in this way with more upbeat music (without the rhyming) will help create tension and encorperate lots of different, affective camera angles.

As the project we have been asked to do has to be approximatly 3 minutes it is important I establish the plot quickly. Run Lola Run is a good example of an opening scene that gives the audience a good sence of plot quickly and effectivley. Its also a good film to help show film narative, it shows lots of different filming techniques and can help me direct my project.

It is also important to create a sence of objective quickly to develop the film. The audience does not necesserily need to know this objective if you want to create an ominous plot, this method may help in grabbing the audience's attention and make them want to watch the whole film.

After further research i found a running clip from the film crank, (after about 1.40 minutes) i like it because it is filmed in a similar way i imagined my project to be filmed in. It includes point of view shots as well as close and long shots with the upbeat music, i think it will help me create further suspence in my project.

After watching the film crank, (among other clips and opening sequences) i have decided to do an action suspence genre. I will encorporate a sence of plot quickly but keep the audience wondering about the outcome and sence of direction the film is going to take. To do this im going to change the atmosphere of the film quite quickly (from laid back and happy to intense) before the running scene comenses, without letting the audience know why. I think the best way to do this is through a dramatic phone call, i wont allow the audience to hear what is being said on the other side of the phone so it keeps them guessing throughout the running scene and creates a good sence of enigma.
