Reseach, third front cover analysis

This is the third front cover example we have gathered. This is the front cover we have decided we will use as a style model. I will try to use a similar image for the front over as it suits our purpose and audience of our magazine but will have a totally different house style such as font coulours and styles. The image used is really effective as it presents a real rockstar image which is what i will try to portray with my magazine front cover. We have also decided to use a similar background.

The magazine logo is used with the letter ''Q'' in white text white red background to make the title of the magazine stand out and to make it appealing to the buyer. Also the use of red represents danger which relates to a rockstar magazine. Also the logo is represnted as being smashed liked glass which gives a strking powerful appeal to the reader. As the logo is being smashed it also shows the magazine is for an audience of rock fans.

This section of the front cover shows Matt Bellamy swinging his guitar at the logo and smashing it. The first evident technique used is he is wearing a blazer with red patches on it. The red on his blazer blends in with the red on the logo which further emphises danger and a powerful, angry, rockstar image. Also the fact he is using his guitar to smash it firther emphises a rockstar appeal. Also the dark grey background is used which matches the colour of his guitar, to give a dark, angry effect.

This strip used at the top of the magazine is presented with a black background and white text to make the text stand out to the buyer. The magazine makes the text stand out to portray to the reader this is the best music magazine in the UK so it needs to be bought instead of other magazines such as NME.

The word ''plus'' is used in a red fonr to further give an effect of danger. This is used because undernaeath the word plus other big, recognizable, music names are displayed to the people viewing. This is used to make the reader want to read inside the magazine and they then realise the magzine is not all about Matt Bellamy in the main image. Yet again the names such as ''Ian Brown'' is used in black text with a black background which makes them strkining and appealing to the reader but in keeping with the house style and the image the magazine is trying to convey. The front cover consistantly uses black and white to gave a powerful, dark effect.
