First contents analysis

Within our print coursework, as well as having a front cover and a double page spread, we have to create a contents page to our magazine, letting the reader know what they can find inside.

This contents page has a very classy style. The title of the page is bold and iconic as the name "ICONS" suggests. It is also in a gold colour. Gold suggests glamorousness and a high class in society. By using this technique of colour imagery, the reader feels that they are also of high class by reading the magazine.

Keeping with the colour imagery, the subtitles and page numbers are in a rich red. Red is a traditional colour that has symbolized wealth for centuries. This further adds to the effect of a classy magazine. The contents titles are black. They are a contrasting colour with the white background and also relate with the traditionally well dressed lady to the right of the text.
The wealthy looking lady is also in black and white. These colours relate to the black text, and the contrasting white background. The colour black also suggest mysteriousness of the individual and white symbolizes innocence. The image is almost the full length of the page, this makes the image stand out and be noticed. The individual is also young and beautiful. As many people want to be young and beautiful it relates to the reader through the image, and as she is well dressed, she can also been seen as an idle to a large variety of people. The image is in a very casual stance position and not formal. This technique is used to build a relationship with the reader, and therefore they feel more comfortable reading the magazine.
