How does your media product represent particular social groups?

I think my magazine represents particular social groups in many ways. One way it reflects this is by my use of models. My magazine is aimed at young music fans (13-23) particularly of rock music. I purposely chose young models who reflect the genre my magazine aims at (primarily rock). My main male model, was young, slightly eccentric looking, with long hair typical of most artists and readers of this genre. I dressed him in young fashionable clothes (denim shirt, skinny jeans) and also took pictures of him amongst instruments from this genre (electric guitar, drums) to further associate him with music of this kind. My female model used had bright short hair (another thing typical of Rock fans) and gave off a 'Punk', which is a sub-genre of rock music. This represents any subcultures which are slightly brighter, for example punks, but still listen to this kind of music, therefore widening my audience. I also used a bright shade of red throughout my magazine as the brightness can be something associated and appealing to younger people. The language in my magazine is also representative of young people. I used heavy swearing throughout my double page spread to show the aggressiveness of this genre and also reflect the language of many people today, although this aims my magazine at a slightly older audience. Much of the language is informal but some more educated words are used, again aiming it at an older audience.
