What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? (Naithan Gaskell)
My media product is a magazine, therefore i need a magazine institution that would distribute my product. Time Warner own Warner brother, who make Harry Potter films. Also News Corp own 20th Centuary Fox who make the Simpons. However these are film and video institutes, where as i would need a magazine institute. For this there is Baurer media group that owns Q magazine. However, from my research i have found that Q is a very established music magazine that is aimed at the high end of the music insutry, where its content shows artists and individuals that have made their money within the music business, but arnt just the actual singers. Rolling Stones is another example of this type of magazine and are classed as the greatest of magazines, as many of their front covers can also be bought in poster formats. On the other hand there are alternative magazines such as Kerrang and NME who is owned by IPC who is owned by Time Warner. This magazine is more similar to my magazines content as it consists of new up-coming acts such as my front cover and also already known acts that the readers will already know about. This magazine also have a much less layed back, lower class theme. Therefore, media institutions such as LPC that is owned by Time warner, would distribute my media product.
