Music

An important aspect of my project is the choice of music i used. The music is playing throughout the opening and the tone escalates from start to finish, building up the suspense throughout the opening. Throughout the beginning of my project (the couples walk) the music is quiet and romantic again helping to establish the connection between them. The music is also quieter than that of the running scene so the audience can hear the narration in the opening. It picks up its pace before the first phone call, and after the conversation following the phone call it gets louder with more instruments playing, therefore changing the atmosphere of the running scene compared to the start of my project.

When the boyfriend is stopped in his tracks during the running scene and hit with a weapon from a point of view angle, the video is abruptly stopped and the music also abruptly dies down. When the video dissolves from white to black a few seconds after, the music quiets down some more making way for the narration, further making the atmosphere of my piece more mysterious.

Finally the music again escalates with a constant power audio transition to help build the suspense of the audience in good timing with what was on the DVD as well as the phone call after the DVD ending with the phone hanging up, suddenly ending the video with the additive dissolve effect making the title appear (Gone).

The music i used and edited in addition to the right points in my project was the instrumental of 'Blue Sea Blues' by the band 'The Portland's'. I am aware that in order to use this music copyright would be a problem, so i emailed the band asking for permission to use the song in my project without any profit or advertising intentions. Below is the email i sent them.

And below is the email the band replied.

As you can see they replied with 'Of course you're more than welcome to use it!' so copyright is no longer a problem.
